TheGeneral Secretariat of theOrganizationofArabPetroleumExportingCountries
(OAPEC) is pleased to submit its Annual Statistical Report for 2014. It includes
energy data for OAPEC member countries and other Arab countries, in addition to
comprehensive data for the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC)
and the world for the period 2009 to 2013.
OAPEC General Secretariat updates its statistical data depending mainly on the
direct feedback from member countries through the Data Collection Form, and the
data included in the Country Papers which presented by the Arab countries to the
Tenth Arab Energy Conference to be held in Abu Dhabi, the UAE, from 21 to 23
December 2014. In addition to data issued by Arab national institutions and other
secondary sources.
In Part one, the 2014 report displays a number of general indicators of OAPEC
member countries. Part two reviews data on reserves, production, and new
discoveries. At the end of 2013, such statistics show a slight decline in the Arab
countries’ conventional crude oil reserves with a drop of 0.03% to reach 713 billion
barrels compared to 2012 levels. Arab countries’ 2013 reserves representing 55.8%
of the total global reserves of 1277.7 billion barrels.
On the other hand, Arab natural gas reserves have slightly increased by 0.14% in
2013, compared to 2012 levels, reaching 54.3 trillion cubic meters and accounting
for 27.3% of total global gas reserves.
As for crude oil and natural gas liquids production, Arab countries production in
2013 reached about 26.6 million b/d, of which about 25.4 million b/d was produced
by OAPEC member countries. Crude oil production alone in the Arab countries
reached about 23.2 million b/d, with a decline of 2.4% compared to 2012 levels.
Arab crude oil production amounted to about 30.5% of the total global production.
Natural gas marketed production in the Arab countries reached about 537.8 billion
cubic meters in 2013, of which 556.4 billion cubic meters was produced by OAPEC
member countries, accounting for 93.1% of total Arab production. Arab countries
production accounted for about 16% of total global production of 3481 billion cubic
meters.
